Camino Verde Transitional Village. We are exploring partnerships toward an emergency housing development, built with natural building methods, that people can move into without a lot of hurdles. The guild is assessing the land and drafting site plans with permaculture design, and our Natural Building Guild is part of the discovery process.
Cochise County is funding rock wall dams and watershed restoration, and the guild is putting together a paid crew for that work.

The guild is designing The Dirt Wagon, a community tool trailer that carries a whole jobsite for earth-building work parties: solar-charged cordless tools, a mixer, plaster and sifter gear, so ten to twenty people can be building within an hour of arrival. Community Synergy will maintain it, use it at our own work parties, and lend it out to others in the area.
The guild plans to take part in the discovery process for Camino Verde Transitional Village, which may lead to a natural build project for the community. Workshops this fall bring local natural builders together to grow capacity for that kind of work.

Our Western SARE grant with the University of Arizona, BSERC and five local farmers was not funded this round. Reviewers called it a strong proposal, and the same team is applying again for 2027.
